Arboretum Nature Kids

Welcome to Arboretum Nature Kids!

Embark on a new adventure by becoming an Arboretum Nature Kid!  Arboretum Nature Kids is a school-year enrichment program designed to provide children with joyful experiences in nature, exciting hands-on activities, and meaningful peer interactions, all in a safe setting.  By integrating playful exploration of our gardens with nature-themed science and art activities, Arboretum Nature Kids unlocks entirely new avenues for children to learn and explore at their own pace while fostering socialization and healthy child development.

CURRICULUM

The curriculum will be consistent with the type of activities children experience at Arboretum Nature Camp- Joyful, hands-on experiences that incorporate art, science, and nature education in a way that builds upon children’s inherent curiosity.  It will include explorations of the gardens as well as structured activities in the “classroom.”  The program will provide children with safe socialization and connections to peers in an active natural environment.

SAFETY

We followed strict safety protocols during our 2020 summer camp program, and have found that our campers have adapted to them with amazing ease, grace, and dedication. The COVID-19 Safety Protocol we adhere to, which was designed in partnership with LA County Department of Public Health and LA Parks & Recreation, details the guidelines we have we follow in order to ensure a safe and healthy environment. The COVID-19 Safety Protocol document can be found HERE.

AGE RANGE

Arboretum Nature Kids is designed for children ages 5 to 10 years old. Children must fall within this range to participate.

COHORTS

As with our 2020 summer camp program, the size of our groups will not exceed 12 children per session. If there is interest from more than 12 families (which we anticipate), we will open up a second group during the same time frame and host the group in our Oak Room classroom. Cohorts will be assembled based on a number of factors, and we will consider requests among those factors.
