Online Photo Permit

Here is what you need to know about permits for portrait photography:

  • The permit fee is $50 and permits are limited
  • The permit must be purchased online in advance
  • Number of people for portrait photography is limited to 6 or less (this includes subjects and photographers)
  • Admission tickets must be purchased in advance for non-members in your group
  • Mask or face coverings are required at all times with the exception of the subject(s) when the photograph is being taken
  • Photographer must wear masks or face coverings at all times
  • Groups are not allowed to purchase additional permits to accommodate more people

Rules for portrait photography:

  1. Clients must arrive camera-ready. Hair and makeup must be done before arriving.  No clothing changes are allowed. It is against County code
  2. All photography session activities shall be appropriate and free from obscene content
  3. The entire party must be present to enter the Arboretum for photography
  4. No more than one bag/cart of equipment and props may be brought into the Arboretum
  5. During a photo session, exit and reentry will not be permitted
  6. You will be held accountable for any damage to the Arboretum by your actions or the people in your group
  7. All non-member guests must purchase a ticket for admission to the garden. Tickets are non-refundable but can be used on another day of your choice 
  8. Drones are not allowed at the Arboretum

General Garden Etiquette:

  1. Avoid damage to collections and disruption of visitor and Arboretum activities. A permit does not give you exclusive right to an area in the garden
  2. Keep roadways clear to allow visitors and vehicles to pass through
  3. Stay on designated paths, trails and lawns. Keep out of plantings, mulch and water features
  4. Do not collect, move, damage or deface plant life, historic items, or wildlife
  5. Climbing trees, buildings, or wading in water features is not permitted
  6. Hanging bags or props on trees or buildings is prohibited at the Arboretum
  7. Pets are not allowed inside the Arboretum
  8. Balloons are not allowed in the Arboretum
  9. Hangers are not allowed in the Arboretum
  10. Smoking is prohibited by County Ordinance 17.04.645

If your group does not follow these policies, the Arboretum reserves that right to exclude you from re-entering or may ask you to leave.
